P5 enjoyed learning about how Ancient Egyptians had to adapt their farming techniques to get water throughout the year in Egypt. We learnt about shadufs, which are an ancient method of lifting water from the river. We thought about how methods of water movement have changed since then and discovered that some farmers in Egypt still use this tool! We then planned how to make our own shadufs using different materials which we then tested. It was great fun!
