Greetings from Mukinge, Zambia!
Dear Friends,
6 of the children accepted for the scholarship this year went into Grade One. Very few of them have had any preschool experience as their parents could not afford to send them. So as you can imagine they are behind their friends. Please pray for these children!
Some prayer points:
- Most of the children on the scholarship do not speak very much English, unlike many of the others in Grade 1. Pray that they would learn to understand English quickly so that they can understand what the teacher is explaining.
- Pray that they would be able to catch up with their friends who have been to preschool.
- One child in the class is an albino. Pray that the other children would be accepting of her differences and that she would make some friends. She is a double orphan and her grandmother is also trying to look after other children. Pray that God would bless the grandmother (she cannot read or write. She signs letters with her thumb print).
- Pray that the parents and guardians of all 16 children would be able to provide the snack the children need to carry to school so that they can concentrate in lessons. Some days some of the children come without anything.
- Pray for one little boy in Grade 1 who was in a serious accident a few years ago in which his mother died. He has some difficulties with walking, co-ordination and use of his right hand. He is trying to learn to write with his left hand. Last week he learned to say. “Teacher, I’m finished!”
Thank you for collecting your 5p coins on a Friday! You are making a huge difference to the lives of these children and their families!
We will start learning the song after mid-term!
Lots of love,
Miss Robinson
