The Ulster Farmers’ Union (UFU) in partnership with Bank of Ireland Open Farm Weekend and competition sponsor Asda, were delighted to announce that Mariah from Hazelbank Primary School, was awarded first place in the Key Stage 2 category of the 2023 “Farming through the seasons” schools’ competition.
UFU deputy president William Irvine said, “Congratulations to Mariah who was awarded first place in the Key Stage 2 category in this year’s competition. We received 6,245 fantastic competition entries this year. Mariah’s poem was excellent and the attention to detail was superb, covering a range of commodities and key dates in the farming calendar! Every year we are impressed by the standard and creativity of entries and this year was no different. The effort and time that pupils, teachers, parents and guardians put into the competition was evident as all of the entries were of the highest standard and I would like to thank Hazelbank Primary School for contributing to this.
